PLM Teamcenter consultant with 6 years 7 months experience

TCS or wipro ?

Pls let me know the max lim it i can ask for .

Is 7a band apt in IBM GBS or  7 B band apt for a lead/managerial role in IBM for a PLMPAckage solution consultant role?

How about the onsites in PLM domain in IBM GBS?
How about hikes(yearly )? max percentage
Job security in recession for these type of seniopr roles? is it safer than TCS?

Re: PLM Teamcenter consultant with 6 years 7 months experience

Hi Ram,

You can expect salary in the range of 10 to 12 lacs, depending upon the job role offered.

IBM would offer Band 7A, given your experience. If they offer 7B, that could be considered as a very good offer.

Onsite opportunities are very few, unless it is a special client requirement.

You can expect the max hike to be of 20% if you are a top performer

Job security if equal in all big IT companies in India, unless you are an under performer.

Re: PLM Teamcenter consultant with 6 years 7 months experience

Dear sal guru,
I have an onsite in hand in the present company.but planning to settle here in india itself for a good offer and the role in ibm is plm package solution consultant. tried to ask them 7b where they rejected my request saying 7a itself is a lead role for 6.5 years exp. ctc is 11. also ge is offering 10 only. got calls from tcs , wipro etc., tried to discuss with my present company itself for increase in hike where they are not ready to a hike of 60% so resigned from the present one and planning to join ibm GBS, where they told unlike IBM ISL, IBM GBS is like another outsourcing IT services MNC like our indian MNCs and we do have onsites also in Teamcenter PLM domain.
TCS, wipro offers are much below .which one would u suggest?
regards
Ram

Re: PLM Teamcenter consultant with 6 years 7 months experience

hi guru,
I just returned from onsite for a break .My onsite package was 52000 Euros p.a.My role is a project lead/Project manager role here in satyam,After negotiations, I got my fixed sal as 12.7 L ,1.5 L as variable,in IBM India Pvt Ltd., GBS division? and  band is 7A. what will be my take home salary p.m? Am i paid at the higher end in that band ? why am i asking is in future in the coming the % of hike depends on this right ?probably how much i can get ? I have good amount of onsite experience and client exposure, proposal, SOW writing , striking new deals with new clients for us in the present company at onsite. as they are not able to pay me the indian ctc at par with market , i am moving on, though i have an onsite immediately here. else the work environment wise , the esteem and the respect i deserve here is very high and would have continued here itself, had they increased my salary as per market.
Also if it were old satyam it would have raised as an exception for me  and retained.but now the management changed and even i am the preferred for any onsite chances.if i join IBM in this march 2012 in 7A band will there be good hike ? when will the PBC ratings or appraisal be completed in IBM when will the hikes happen if i join in march 2012. will i be part of the june 2012 appraisal ? how much % i can expect ? I am planning to move to a PM role shortly in 1/1.5 years. will it be easy in IBM? also when will i get promoted to 7 B band(time frame from 7a- 7B for a 7 yr experienced) what i thought of getting during joining itself for which they did not agree.
After 6 to 8 months joining, i am ready/interested  to go to onsite, not now. that is one reason i am resigning from the present compnay as there is much pressure to travel to onsite imemdiately. How abt the onsite oppurtunities in IBM ? are there many projects for IBM in PLM-Teamcenter domain particular? any idea about the names of the clients ? Automobile OEMS mostly will be implemeting Teamcenter. any idea ? US or european clients more for them ?( as i have good interaction with european clients) ?
I agree by your reply in the previous query that IBM is much better than TCS, wipro w.r.t  pay and work environement but any ways i want to tell you the situation clearly . so now advise me as an onsite return how much can i expect ?is the one i got now a fair deal.
Pls answer all my queries soon.

Re: PLM Teamcenter consultant with 6 years 7 months experience

Hi Ram,

Thanks for writing back in detail.

We have tried to answer each of your question below :

"What will be my take home salary p.m? "

Your monthly take home will depend upon how much you want to keep in your Flexible pay kitty. If you don't keep anything in your kitty than you will get Basic + 135% FBP - PF - PT

"Am i paid at the higher end in that band ? " "if i join IBM in this march 2012 in 7A band will there be good hike ?

Yes you are getting a high salary in the band, which is actually bad, because it means that you won't get good salary hikes, unless you move up to a higher band. But since you have only 7 years of experience, you were not offered Band 7B

"when will the PBC ratings or appraisal be completed in IBM when will the hikes happen if i join in march 2012. "  "will i be part of the june 2012 appraisal ? how much % i can expect ? "

PBC ratings normally happen in December, so your rating will happen in Dec. 2012. Salary hikes happen in June, but since you will be new to IBM, you won't get any in this cycle, your salary hike will happen in June 2013

"I am planning to move to a PM role shortly in 1/1.5 years. will it be easy in IBM? "

What is the job role offered to you ? Yes you can move into PM role, complete PMP certification ASAP.

"also when will i get promoted to 7 B band(time frame from 7a- 7B for a 7 yr experienced) what i thought of getting during joining itself for which they did not agree."

Once you are in the PM role, you should try to get to 7B. But it will not happen before 2013.

"After 6 to 8 months joining, i am ready/interested  to go to onsite, not now. that is one reason i am resigning from the present compnay as there is much pressure to travel to onsite imemdiately. How abt the onsite oppurtunities in IBM ? "

You need to talk to your manager, depending upon your account you might have onsite opportunities. You might have to change your account if you don't have opportunities in your current account.

"are there many projects for IBM in PLM-Teamcenter domain particular? any idea about the names of the clients ? Automobile OEMS mostly will be implemeting Teamcenter. any idea ? US or european clients more for them ?( as i have good interaction with european clients) ?"

We won't have that details, but IBM is a huge company and you will have all kind of clients, you just need to search for it.

Hope we have answered all your questions. Good Luck.
